Apartment
Letizia (1854 – 1938)

Letizia Tiscar de Los Ríos (1854-1938), is one of the most brilliant people who have lived here.

Inspired by her we called “nest” the apartment in the Rustico, and it consists of two rooms, divided in living room, bedroom and bathroom.

APARTMENT APPROX. 35 SQM, LOCATED IN THE RUSTICO BEHIND THE VILLA AND SUITABLE FOR 2/3 PERSONS (ON REQUEST 4).

Letizias urban lifestyle she led when she lived in Palermo, before her wedding with the Lübeck wood merchant, Robert, had nothing to do with the rural seclusion of San Giacomo community.

Despite the seven sons, an illustrious circle of friends, to which also the then unknown Franz Kafka belonged, invitations and theatrical performances in the House brought “insufficient variety” in their chic congenial lives. The following take of “Madame Bovary”, her literary contemporary, with who she finally shares a similarly tragic fate. An oversized photograph that shows her as a bride in Palermo, adorns the bedroom of the apartment. The entire unit was used as a bakery of the Villa. In the living room, which is designed with an antique terracotta floor, the vault of the oven was lavishly restored and located on the front side with an open fireplace. The double walled storage benches used for the cooling of bread, are now padded and forms a harmonious ambience as a dining area. The apartment is complemented by a terrace, which is offered as a second “outdoor living room”.
